To the virgins

Please read the following text carefully. What do you think is the message it´s trying to pass on to young people? What is your own opinion on this message? And, what do you think of this poem?

To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
To-morrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the Sun,
The higher he's a-getting;
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he´s to setting.

That age is best, which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may, go marry;
For having lost but once your prime,
You may for ever tarry.

I believe this poem talks about time and that we should use it wisely since we don't know if tomorrow will be our last day. We should enjoy it and love or marry the one loved if we can. And if someone did not loves us the first time, we shall not stay there, we should continue on.

I think the poem is trying to tell the young people to do everything while they can. Use their time wisely and take every opportunity to enjoy life. It also says that this age is the best one and we should live everyday with happiness.

"carpe diem" live today like it`s your last day. do what ever you need to do. enjoy life basically, though the words are a little bit confusing i like the poem.

I think this poem is talking about using time well to the young people. We dont have to spend the time

I think that teh autor wants to say that you need to enjoy (aprovechar) every second of your life, because you don't know when are you going to die and it vether to live at the maximum

I didn't liked the poem because it has very confusing words. What the poems try to say is that we need to enjoy every single day of our entire life. And that we need to enjoy it more now in our childhood because when we grow up life starts getting tougher and its more difficult to be happy! It also says that do whatever you want when you can because there's going to be a point in your life in which you will not be abe to do it!! I liked the message of the poem! =)

I like the poem. Its a little confuse but the message is really realistic. What is trying to say is that we need to enjoy every day of our lifes. Every time because then we grow and more responsabilities come to us.
We need to0 fallow our own dreams and dont care what people day because its our life.

I agree with the poem, life is to short and before you know it, sunset has hit you face and the day ends, nobody expected it, nobody intended it, it simply had to be. As a human being, we are slef-centered, and forget about the pass of time, we forget Carpe Diem, we only live for the future, while all the future has in store for us is a wretched death. People don't enjoy life, instead they scorn, and fill their hearts and minds with contempt, rather than content and peace, so the message for the young is more than perfect in my point of view, it's unfortunate though, that the average joe will probably never apply it to his/her life, even minutes before fate strikes them, before they go forth and die...

I liked the poem because it is talking about not wasting time in life because each second or minute or hour wasted wasnt any good for your life or future so we have to appreciate each second of our life.

The poem is very direct to what it wants to say. Which is precisely to enjoy life this very moment as we speak. It talks of how time passes and we don't notice it until it affects us. In the past it was common to see people more "loosen up". Right now everyone is thinking about the future, asking ourselves the same question over and over again. What will I do? The thing is people are so concerned to what to do tomorrow they actually forget of what to do right now, and thus we fall in an never ending circle of worring about tomorrow instead of today. Time passes no matter what and if we do not seize the day we will be concerned when death actually comes and we ask ourselves, what did I do? Not, what will I do?

The execution itself is not outstanding, the subject is extraordinarily common; these two factors total to a generic poem that is still good enough to relate to it before you criticize it. I don't want to say it's bad, because it wasn't. Yet there was nothing captivating about it.

this poem expresses brevity of life and creating, the need to live for the moment,when i read this poem i felt the very essence of life is drawn with evry breath..it is much liek they say for every begining...there is an end..such end is as beautiful as we want it to be... but it is not the end that counts...it is what you did with the time that was given to you...

i liked this poem because it talks about how we should enjoy every moment of our lifes because life could be too short or too long.
You dont know what would happen later on, so you need to live you life and give the best you can.

This poem talks about how we have to live our life. It tells us how much we have to enjoy it because we never know when it will be our last day. It also tells that now we are young we sould enjoy and do all the things we want to do and use our time wisely.

I liked this poem a lot. This is the type of poems I preffer to read because I can really understand what they are saying and they rhyme. It has very wise meanings because its true that we have to enjoy as much as we can.

This poem let me thinking about my life, and how I need to live every moment of it. We really don't know when it will be over. So, what this poem means to me its that you have to live your life every day as it was the last one. Don't worry about not sense problems, live your life extraordinarly.

This poem tells youth and after youth most be enjoyed, that every day of our life we most live it like it is the last one. For we never know when the day will come for us to stop breathing. So lets take the carpe diem.

I think this poem talks about young people should enjoy their life and spend time living. Marry the one you love, always give it a try and live the life as it is your last day on earth. I really liked it, at first I didn´t understand it but after reading it a few times and paying more attention & got the idea of what it talk about

Anónimo dijo...

In my opinion this poem says a really important thing, live today. You that are young people live it! beacause you don´t know if it would be your last day, and if someone doesn´t like you, it doesn´t matter continue with your life and meet other people that would love you

The theme is good, but the way the poem was written was not very very good.
I liked that it talked about time and seizing, but I can see a better poem out of it.

I think it is a hard poem to understand, (I had to read it twice)but when you get what it is trying to tell you it is very beautiful and it tries to tell you to enjoy every second of your life.

I conceive that it says that we need to enjoy our childhood because it would end someday and it would not be the same, it would not be as good as being a child. Even though when we have bad moments we should still go on, we should not waste our time. Be good and faithful with love, get married. If you blow up your childhood you would not be able to get it back.

What this poem tries to transmit us, is that there is nothing better than childhood and those years of life. Everything arrives opportunely and is necessary to enjoy every second as well as possible and live in the present, because life is short, you never know what comes next. Everything begins with youth and follows its way depending in the decisions you take.

Nancy Rodriguez dijo...

I think that this poems is wanting to let us know that we shouldn't take things for granite and we should enjoy everything given to us in our childhood for we might not have it later on as time flies by, i think it leaves it very clear to what it wants the reader to know and have in mind

Mariana Cazares dijo...

This poem talks about life and how to enjoy it.
Life is very short so enjoy it and live the moment, stop worring about the future and live as if today was the last they I think that is the message transmited in this poem.
I personally think this poem
expresses more than we can imagin. I like it very much
In some parts it tells you that when you are young you may do many things later on your not able to so enjoy your childhoss while you can.

"Each day´s a gift, And not a given right", I think this poem just says one thing: Live Life While You Can.
